We are a small Montessori preschool licensed for just 20 children. We have a strong focus on peace education and environmental sustainability.
We are an Early Childhood Centre providing Montessori education for children between the ages of 2 1/2 until 6 years of age. Many of out children atay past 5 yrs of age! We are licensed for just 20 children and offer the option of children attending 3, 4, or 5 days a week from 8:45 to 3:15pm. We are closed public holidays and for three weeks over Christmas/New Year.
We are the only Montessori in Upper Hutt and the only Montessori in Hutt Valley where children aren't required to attend every day. We are centrally located in Trentham with families attending from Lower Hutt, Stokes Valley, Trentham, Silverstream, Heretaunga, North of Upper Hut, Whitemans Valley and Mangaroa. We have five core values that guide our practice - Love, Peace, Respect, Diversity and Environmental Sustainablility. We teach in English, Te Reo Maori, NZ Sign Language, and German!
We encourage healthy food and exercise and are proud of our Gold Healthy Heart Award. All healthy food is encouraged including nuts, eggs, and dairy. We are a Fairtrade school and workplace !
Dr Montessori was nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize and through her philsophy we promote peace and understanding that we are all global citizens.
Environmental sustainability is a huge part of both our curriculum and our company beliefs. We suppprt Enviroschools, are members of Papers for Trees programme, and were foundation members of the ECE environmental network in Upper Hutt. We are dedicated to zero waste. Early in 2019 we were presented with our Silver Enviroschools Award by our Mayor! We are a community drop off point for over 30 products for recycling , support organisations that assist those in the wider community, and raise funds for NZ Forest & Bird!
Our waiting list can vary from 6mths to over 2 years so it is important to enrol early. Our fees schedule along with a waiting list application and details of our curriculum are avaiable on request.
